Self-serve businesses have the best dwell time in the metro. A laundromat customer is there for ninety minutes. A car wash customer is working in the heat. Neither has anywhere else to go while they wait.
Dwell time is the whole advantage
Most vending locations get someone's attention for thirty seconds. A laundromat has them for an hour and a half with genuinely nothing to do. That's why self-serve laundry is, per square foot, one of the strongest vending environments there is.
Self-serve car washes are the same logic in a hotter setting: physical work, direct sun, and a customer already standing at a payment terminal.
Ninety minutes with nothing to do is worth more than a hundred people walking past.
Payment: the question that matters here
These businesses split into two types, and it changes what we place.
| Your site | What that means |
|---|---|
| Coin-operated | Customers arrive with quarters in hand. Cash-accepting equipment works well here. |
| Card or app system | Customers carry no change at all. Equipment has to accept cards, or it earns nothing. |
This sounds like a small detail and it isn't. A cash-only machine in a coinless laundromat will sit unused no matter how busy the site is. Tell us which you run and we'll match the equipment to it.
Unattended sites
Many self-serve locations have no staff on duty for most of their open hours, and plenty run twenty-four. Two implications: the equipment has to be reliable without anyone watching it, and refunds need to come to us rather than to a voicemail nobody checks. Our number goes on the machine so problems land with us.
If you already have a machine
Quite a few Waco laundromats have a drink machine somebody dropped off years ago and never came back for. If yours takes money without vending, or hasn't been restocked in months, that's worth a conversation — though the equipment belongs to whoever placed it, and they're the ones who come collect it. We can help you sort out the timing so you're not left with an empty wall.
